Buying Your First Home
Home looks different for everyone. If yours looks like a first home, a front porch, and a place to finally call your own, I’d love to help you get there.
Home looks different for everyone. If yours looks like a first home, a front porch, and a place to finally call your own, I’d love to help you get there.
Buying your first home is exciting. But it can also feel like a lot. There’s the mortgage talk, the searching, the offers, the inspections. It’s easy to feel like you’re supposed to know things you’ve never been taught. You’re not supposed to know. That’s what I’m here for.
We’ll talk about what you’re comfortable spending, what kind of home you’re looking for, and what matters most to you. If you need a lender, don’t worry. I have a network of several I’ve worked with over the years and trust to take great care of my clients. I have no financial relationship with any of them, so the recommendation is genuine. They’ll help you get pre-approved so you know exactly what you’re working with. No guesswork, no surprises.
This is the fun part. I’ll send you listings that match what you’re looking for, and we’ll go see them together. I’ll point out things you might not notice on your own, things like the age of the roof, signs of deferred maintenance, whether the layout actually works for how you live. We’ll take our time. No rushing, no pressure.
I’ll walk you through writing an offer that makes sense. We’ll look at what comparable homes have sold for and talk about what the seller’s situation might be so your offer is strong without stretching you further than you’re comfortable with.
Once your offer is accepted, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes. You’ll need a home inspector, and I’m happy to refer you to several I trust who do thorough, honest work. I’ll walk through the inspection findings with you and help you understand what matters and what doesn’t. I’ll coordinate with the lender, the appraiser, the title company, the listing agent. You’ll have questions, and I’ll have answers. Or I’ll go find them.
We’ll do a final walkthrough to make sure everything looks right. Then you’ll sign some papers, grab your keys, and walk into a home that’s yours. I’ll probably get a little choked up. I always do.
